learning with and from each other

Has your school ever done a reading week? Well, we did. Our school is one of many schools in our district to participate in it! 150 intermediate students grades 4 to 7 read to a little buddy for a week to raise $5000! The event was sponsored by BC 150, a government sponsored program that began in 2008 to celebrate 150 years since BC first became a colony.
My class and I went to three different classes in grades 1, 2 and kindergarten and read to them. There were a few groups for each class and we read twice a day. Our buddies and us both chose books that could range from funny books to sad books. I myself tried to make the book funnier by taking the characters from the book and make my voice sound like them. Thanks Mrs. Perich, Mrs. Lloyd and Mrs. David for inviting our class to read to your students. It would be awesome if we visited our little buddies again. My class and I had a lot of fun.

That was a great video! That week was so much fun, I loved to read with my little buddy! It was pretty neat. I really enjoyed the day when we couldn’t find our little buddies, so we read to each other! What a fun week! I would really love it if we could do that again some time.

I remember when we lost our buddies, I think it was because they went on a field trip. When they were gone, we decided to read to eachother. We only read 2 and a half books though. The first one was called,” Knuffle Bunny two” It was such a funny book. Then we read,” I Ain’t Gunna Paint No More”. It was great reading to the kids for a week.

I really liked that video especially my picture!
Reading week was fun. I really like my buddy he was nice. I think it was cute that he painted his finger nails blue. I enjoyd reading with the kindergardeners, and when they read to us.

I had a lot of fun because I knew that reading to them is helping them to also read. Later on this year I hope we can do this again.

My partner that I read to I’ve known since she was in Kindergarten. I used to help in her class when I was in grade5. It was good to see her again.

I think that the reading week was really fun. When we couldn’t find the class we were supposed to be reading with I was reading my own book at one of the tables (I should’ve come to where you guys were so I could hear the story too!). I think that we should do something like this again in the future because it was a great experience.
